Your first accident visit is about more than finding where it hurts
After a collision, patients may arrive with obvious neck or back pain, or with symptoms that developed gradually over the hours or days that followed. A thorough accident evaluation looks at the mechanism of the crash, symptom timing, previous injuries, current functional limitations and any signs that warrant additional testing or referral.
The Henschell car-accident evaluation workflow
Documentation matters because recovery is not measured only by a pain score. We also want to know whether a patient can turn the head while driving, sit through work, sleep comfortably, lift a child, complete job duties or return to normal exercise. Re-evaluations can track those changes over time.
Imaging when the examination indicates it
Henschell Chiropractic has onsite digital X-ray, but imaging is not automatic after every collision. The doctor considers the history, examination findings, age, symptoms and clinical need. When X-ray is not the appropriate study—or when findings suggest that another type of imaging or medical evaluation is needed—the patient may be referred accordingly.
A coordinated plan can include more than one service
Depending on the injury and stage of recovery, a care plan may include chiropractic treatment, massage therapy and functional rehabilitation. Early care may focus more on tolerable movement and symptom control. As function improves, rehabilitation can progress toward mobility, stability, strength and return to normal activity.
When several family members were in the same collision
We often think of a motor-vehicle crash as one event, but every person in the vehicle can respond differently. Adults and children are evaluated individually. A child may describe discomfort differently from a parent, and age-appropriate examination is important. Dr. Alta Mahan's focus on pediatric and family chiropractic supports this part of our practice.
