Chiropractic care starts with understanding the problem
At Henschell Chiropractic, treatment does not begin with the assumption that every patient needs the same adjustment or the same schedule of care. A visit starts with the history of the problem: when it began, what makes it better or worse, how it affects work, sleep, driving, exercise or family activities, and whether there was a collision, work incident or other injury.
What a chiropractic evaluation may include
Depending on the complaint, the examination may include range-of-motion testing, orthopedic and neurologic screening, evaluation of posture and movement, palpation of painful or restricted areas, and discussion of functional limitations. If the history or examination raises a concern that needs imaging, onsite digital X-ray is available when clinically appropriate.
Injury recovery and everyday musculoskeletal care
Our office treats people recovering from car accidents and work-related injuries, but we remain a family chiropractic practice. Patients also come to us for neck pain, back pain, headaches with a musculoskeletal component, activity-related pain, stiffness and recurring movement problems. The goal is to determine what is appropriate for the individual rather than force every complaint into the same treatment category.
More than adjustments
Chiropractic care can be one part of a coordinated plan. Depending on the patient's needs, treatment may also include massage therapy, functional rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise. When several services are appropriate, having them available in the same office makes it easier for the doctors and rehabilitation team to follow the same goals and monitor progress together.
Care for children, adults and families
Our three chiropractors bring different areas of experience to the practice. Dr. Alta Mahan has a particular focus on pregnancy, pediatric and family chiropractic care. Examination and treatment are adapted to the patient's age, development, symptoms and clinical findings. Children are not simply treated as smaller adults, and pregnant patients may require different positioning and treatment approaches for comfort and safety.
