Massage therapy can be part of a coordinated treatment plan
Massage therapy at Henschell Chiropractic is not limited to relaxation. For many patients, it is used as one component of care for muscle tightness, soft-tissue soreness, restricted movement and the physical effects of injury. The approach depends on the patient's symptoms, tolerance and overall treatment goals.
Massage therapy is available within the same clinic as chiropractic care and rehabilitation.
Why patients may be referred for massage
After a car accident, work injury or flare of neck or back pain, muscles may become guarded, tender or difficult to move comfortably. Massage may be used to address soft-tissue tension and improve tolerance for movement as part of a broader plan. Other patients use massage for recurring musculoskeletal complaints or to support an active lifestyle.
How massage fits with chiropractic and rehabilitation
Because our massage therapists work in the same clinic as the chiropractors and rehabilitation team, treatment can be coordinated around common goals. One patient may need massage primarily to reduce soft-tissue guarding before progressing movement. Another may be farther along and combine massage with chiropractic treatment and functional exercise.
Massage can be one part of an integrated care plan.
Massage during car-accident recovery
For accident patients, we first want to understand the injury and make sure massage is appropriate for the stage of recovery. Newly injured tissue may need a different approach than a chronic tightness pattern. Treatment intensity and technique should be based on examination findings, symptoms and patient tolerance rather than a standard accident routine.
Family and general massage care
Our massage services are also available within a broader family chiropractic setting. Working adults, active patients and people with recurring neck or back tension may be appropriate candidates depending on their health history and goals. Not every massage visit needs to be connected to a personal-injury claim.
Insurance, referrals and coverage
Insurance requirements can vary. Some plans or claims may require a referral, prescription, authorization or specific documentation. Coverage is never guaranteed simply because massage is provided in a chiropractic office. Our staff can help explain what information is needed for your particular situation, but benefit decisions remain with the insurer or claim administrator.
Safety comes first. Acute fracture, infection, uncontrolled medical conditions, certain vascular concerns or other contraindications may make massage inappropriate until the patient is medically evaluated or cleared.
